Grrrl Interrupted!

Hello all I am going to start a preview of what may or may not come to pass in the next year.

I am starting out with some lovely pretty yarn, complements of an on-line friend and indie dyer, spinner and jewelry maker who goes by the handle of SoftnShiny!

So it's hard to tell but this is 2 skeins of lovely shades of pink with black streaks.
I saw the yarn colour from her on line store on another weight of yarn. This is a fingering or sockweight yarn. It is 400 yrds of Merino/nylon blend.
It is to become the popular pattern found on ravelry or at knitty.com the clapotis. So I have decided to name this project "Grrl clapotis interrupted!"
You will follow the progress of this and many other things in the new year!

STASHBUSTERS UPDATE!

Here was day 2 of my project!

It has since grown again, but there isn't a photo currently available

The other part that is fun about this, is that my container that holds all my yarn, is no longer over flowing. I haven't used everything yet, but it is only a matter of time!

I do spend alot of time knitting/Crocheting but I enjoy it and I feel it lets some of my creativity out!

WHO YOU GONNA CALL? STASHBUSTERS!

Good morning one & all!
I know it has been a long time since I kept this up!
Well now is the time to start it up again.

I have become a more crazy knitter/Crocheter in the last little while. I get immense pleasure doing it. It is helping to feed my artistic needs somewhat.

Today I will be starting the story of a Granny Square that is  slow growing into something big.

FIRST SOME BACKGROUND!
On Ravelry (Knitter Facebook but so much better!) I am part of a group that bases itself on the Harry Potter books. I won't go into a long winded explanation here right now.

One of the "assignments" for the non-term month is crochet a square.

I went through my stash & picked some yarn that I knew wasn't enough for a project & started the square.

While waiting for clarification on size, it continued to grow.

This will be the story of it's growth

I am back & I will try to keep this going.
Overall, life is good.
My current obsession is knitting. So this may become the place to talk about my knitting adventures. There will be lots of them.

I will talk about other things, like my love of music, tv, movies & many other things.

Dear (Method of Transportation) #3

The following is the third in a series of four letters to the people who use different modes of transportation. It is not meant to be personal as I am also guilty of some of the things that I talk about in these letters.....


Dear Driver,
                   I know you have to be somewhere right away. Now in fact. I also understand that you are very important. Probably more important than anyone else on the road. However that does not mean that when the streetcar comes to a stop and opens its doors to its passengers you can drive past it. I know you think maybe you can add an extra 3 minutes for other activities by eking out the quick drive by the doors. No one will get hurt, you are just too good a driver!
                   Please note that it is illegal to stop in the middle of an intersection. I know that maybe if you drive behind that other car that isn't moving, you will arrive at your destination. It just needs a little encouragement from your car. It will speed traffic up just knowing you are behind them. For those of use blocked by your car when the light changes in my favour: STOP BLOCKING MY LANE. Wait for the other cars on the other side of the intersection to move before you do. PLEASE!
                 I can appreciate the frustration of trying to get to your destination in a timely fashion, but please stop picking on the cyclists. They share the road too you know and just because you have a large metal death machine, does not mean you are more important than the rest of us. If us  cyclists are in a lane honking and swearing at us does not make us want to move over for you. In fact it is quite the opposite.

P.S. When parking I have a few requests. 1. In a big parking lot with hundreds of spaces available, please don't park in the one next to me. I need my space. 2. When moving on a residential street with no driveways and parking on one side of the street only, please please don't drive your car, cube van or whatever you are using to move, up on to the sidewalk so that there is no room to walk on the sidewalk. I understand you are trying to let traffic go through, but if a little kid has to go out on the street and is hit by said traffic, not so good!

The following is the second in a series of four letters to the people who use different modes of transportation. It is not meant to be personal as I am also guilty of some of the things that I talk about in these letters.....

Dear Pedestrian,
                         I would appreciate it if you looked both ways before you cross the street. I know listening to your iPod or whatever device you listen to is important in you getting to where you need to be, but it does not give you the right to stop paying attention to traffic. If you do not look and pay attention, how can I predict what you are going to do.
                         I know you may be in a rush to get to your destination but that does not mean that you can cross willy nilly at any part of the road and not face the consequences. If you are between parked cars, it doesn't matter how big or small you are, what colour you are wearing, I can not see you and it is not your right to get upset if I miss you. That's what traffic lights are for.
                        Oh and speaking of traffic lights, green means go and red means stop. There are even little hands on the pedestrian signals. Red Hand Stop! Green Walking person GO! There is even a handy dandy thing called a count down timer, to let you know how much time you have to cross the street. If its at one second, you are not getting to the other side of four lanes of traffic in time. Don't bother.
                       Also pedestrian, when walking down the street with your friends, it is common courtesy to make room for people trying to go in the opposite direction than you are. If you miss a moment of the conversation, you will survive! They may even repeat the three words you missed if you can't figure them out.
                      In the same vain, please notice that some people walk faster than you do so don't walk in a diagonal so that passing you is impossible. Oh and if you are looking in a shop window move closer to it so that there is ample warning you are about to stop.
